What is Leave?
Paid vacation time earned by service members at 2.5 days per month (30 days per year).
Definition
Military leave is earned at 2.5 days per month, for a maximum accrual of 60 days. Unlike civilian vacation, military leave must be approved by commanders and can be cancelled at any time for operational reasons. Leave during deployment — called R&R leave — is often a single two-week period in the middle of a long tour. Leave is one of the most carefully managed commodities in a service member's life.
